Recreation Areas
Bolevec Lakes
The so called Bolevec Lakes are the most significant recreation area of the city. Founded as early as the 15th century, it is formed by 12 man-made lakes and used mostly for swimming and fishing nowadays. The largest of them, the Great Bolevec Lake (54 ha/133 acres) is used for swimming as well as for water sports (yachting and surfing).
The Czech Valley – dam reservoir (České údolí)
The 151 ha (373 acres) large water reservoir at the southern outskirt of Pilsen was finished in 1974. The whole area is used for recreation purposes.
Košutka Lake (Košutecké jezírko)
A smallish romantic natural lake – a flooded former sandstone quarry – located in the northern part of Pilsen. Suitable for swimming.
Hradiště
A romantic location with a large meadow at the Úhlava River. Adults might appreciate the possibility of a pleasant get-together in the local pub while children would surely like the playground and bikers enjoy the nearby cycle
trail.
