Basic Information

Few cities enjoy such a favourable location as Pilsen. It is situated on the confluence of four rivers in the middle of the Pilsen basin. The surrounding hills are mostly covered with woods. The vast wooded areas in the North of Pilsen as well as the romantic rural character of the immediate southern neighbourhood of the West Bohemian metropolis almost make you forget that Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the republic. The region boasts a large number of monuments, namely spectacular Baroque monasteries and manors and chateaux which earned it the nickname Pearl of Baroque. In comparison with hectic holidays in often crowded major tourist destinations so typical of nowadays, the Pilsen Region offers a unique opportunity for spending your holiday amidst beautiful nature but still with excellent services, plentiful possibilities of free time activities and within reach of the rich cultural and social background of the region’s metropolis, Pilsen.

The Pilsen Region is situated on the territory of the former regions Pilsen – North, Pilsen – South and Rokycany.

The region’s division according to the cardinal directions is used for better orientation. The different character of the North and South of Pilsen is obvious at first glance.
