Square of the Republic Neighbourhood
There were about 300 houses built in the time of the foundation of the city in 1295. In the course of time, they underwent various conversions but most of them have kept their historic value until nowadays. Many of the houses witnessed interesting historic events.
The Salzmann House (U Salzmannů)
The house with a Renaissance bossed portal is linked with the origin of fame of the Pilsen beer. It was this very house from which the carter Salzmann brought the first barrel of beer from the new Burghers' Brewery to his friends in Prague in 1842. The well known pub was founded here in 1858.

Pernerovský House
Originally a medieval house, significant Baroque conversion in the 1st half of the 18th century, when it was owned by the Perner family of bellfounders.

House No. 83 (Galerie „13“)
Originally a medieval house with a triad of bossed Renaissance portals and a unique painted wooden Renaissance ceiling. Belongs to the Gallery of West Bohemia nowadays.

The White Lion House (U Bílého lva)
One of the largest and most expensive Pilsen Renaissance houses in the 16th century. At the turn of the 18th and 19th century it was converted into a late Baroque style with Neo-Classicist elements.

Masné krámy (Butchers Market)
This unique historical building from 1392 was used as a butchers market till the 50s of the 20th century. It underwent a major reconstruction between the years 1964 and 1971 which resulted in the present specific exhibition space used by the Gallery of West Bohemia.

The Water Tower House
A late Gothic water tower was first mentioned in 1532 as a part of the municipal fortifications. It houses a gallery nowadays.

House in Perlová Street
A picturesque little house is the counterpart of patrician houses.
An ordinary craftsmen dwelling built on the site of an older house after 1575. An entry to the sightseeing route of the Pilsen subterranean network. (proklik na Podzemí, viz výše).

Gerlachovský House
Consists of two older houses converted into the Baroque style when owned by a prominent member of the Italian artist community J. Merlian in 1575.
A part of the Ethnographic Museum nowadays.

The Golden Sun Municipal Palace (U Zlatého slunce)
Originally two medieval houses linked together before 1530.Rococo facades with the house sign. Residence of the National Institute for the Preservation of Historical Monuments nowadays.

Mestlův House
A late Gothic house converted (probably by J. Auguston) for the mayor F. Mestl in 1728. A Renaissance portal.
