Easter Market (April 6th – 17th)
Spring has finally arrived to Pilsen and with it Easter is here too. You are invited to enjoy the authentic Easter atmosphere on the Easter Market where you can taste various specialities such as trdlo, Easter stuffing, honey liquor, admire and buy beautifully decorated Easter eggs, hand-made Easter rods with colourful ribbons. The Republic Square will be occupied by stands featuring traditional handcrafts and folklore traditions. You can paint your own Easter eggs or braid an Easter rod.
Beer Run (April 8th)
Original running race for sport enthusiasts and beer lovers starts from the pub U Pechtů. Runners will be required to run a six-kilometre long track and to drink five small beers. For some participants these requirements may seem impossible, for others this is the right challenge. So let´s have a small Pilsner Urquell beer and then running, the race gets closer every day!
Farmers’ Market (April 8th – 22nd)
After a winter break the popular Farmers’ Market returns to the Republic Square. Every second Saturday in the area between the St Bartholomew’s Cathedral and the City Hall sellers offer wide range of seasonal fruit, vegetables and high-quality local food produced in the region by small scale farmers and producers. The markets start always at 8 a.m. and finish around noon.
St George’s Fair in Doubravka (April 22nd – 23rd)
Merry-go-rounds, swings, a shooting range as well as the famous Swan attraction. At the fourth weekend in April the St George’s Fair in Doubravka will bring the smell of sugar candy to the area near the church of St George and the nearby park. Traditionally, the fair is full of many attractions and food stands. If you have no plan for your family at this weekend, do not miss the St George’s Fair.
Half-marathon of the Pilsen Region (April 23rd)
The end of April brings one of the biggest running events of the Pilsen Region. Participation in the half-marathon can be easily connected with a visit of the city itself. The half-marathon track starts in the area of Skodaland, it continues through Litice, Slovice, Dobrany, Lhota and Valcha. If you think that a half-marathon would be rather too much for you there is an option to participate in a 5k or 10k run too. Also children are welcomed to race in children categories.
“Pivotečení” (April 28th – 29th)
There is never enough beer in the city of Pilsen. And therefore there is yet another option how to spend a lovely weekend in Pilsen with a glass of beer in your hand. The festival takes place at the last April weekend in the cultural house Serikovka and both days it starts at 1 p.m. and continues to 1 a.m. You can look forward to beer tasting, interesting music performances, various competitions and a lot of entertainment.
Pilsen Festival of Wine 2017 – Spring (April 29th)
Pilsen is undoubtedly connected to beer but at the last weekend in April the city will be filled with wine too. Come and see the spring festival of wine which takes place in Kopeckeho Sady. Only the best quality types of wine will be served all of them coming from Bohemia and Moravia from 20 wineries. You will also learn more about matching wine with the right dishes. This all will be accompanies by cimbalom music which belongs to good wine.
Day in the Air (April 29th – 30th)
The biggest flying show in West Bohemia takes place at the Plasy Airport and it brings entertainment for all family members. Apart from the programme devoted to flying there are many other activities prepared for you and your children accompanied by high-quality refreshments.
First May Motorbike Ride (May 1st)
Fans of powerful machines and motorbikes shall not miss this event which takes place on May 1st on the yard of the Pilsen Urquell Brewery. . About one thousands of motorbikes of all types and outputs are expected to participate in the First May Ride. Meeting of all motorbikes starts at 9 a.m., common start of the ride is at 11,30 a.m.
