Festival of Light BLIK BLIK in the Middle of March Brings Light to Pilsen Again

Have a stroll in lighted-up Pilsen.

The first of the bigger events which the city of Pilsen prepares to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia will be the Festival of Light BLIK BLIK in the middle of March. The festival will offer a total number of sixteen light installations by Czech as well as foreign artists. A significant part of the programme will be thematically connected to this year's jubilee. Nevertheless, it offers a unique experience also to those for whom the Czech history remains rather unknown.

The BLIK BLIK festival's two-kilometre long route will welcome you on Friday, March 16th and Saturday, March 17th in the evening hours. You can ideally visit the event as well as enjoy a walk through the historical centre of Pilsen, a brewery tour or other (not only) beer experiences. When was the last time you took a trip to Pilsen? Whether you prefer a peaceful romantic weekend or a party with friends, you will certainly enjoy Pilsen.

  • Tradition Established by the European Capital of Culture

The first BLIK BLIK Festival of Light was held in 2015 as a part of the European Capital of Culture 2015 programme. Since then, the festival attracts more than 40,000 visitors each year. Both the individual sites and light installations change every year. This year, the two-kilometre festival track will start by the Masaryk Primary School in Slovany. From there, walk back towards DEPO2015. There in the former bus hall the top of the festival programme in the form of an impressive light and sound experience that literally absorbs all your senses will be waiting for you.

  • New Feature– Interior Light Installations

The visitores can enjoy a new festival feature - four interior installations. The first interior installation will be placed in the church of Virgin Mary of Rosary on the Jiráskovo Square. The other two installations will be hosted by DEPO2015. The last location of the interior installation which is being prepared by the organizers of the festival remains a secret. The interior part of the programme will be charged with a symbolic entrance fee of 50 CZK. For children the entrance is free of charge.
