In Pilsen, the historical city centre is surrounded by parks.

  • Liberation Festival (May 5th – 8th)

The city of Pilsen is unique in many ways. Not only is one of the best beers in the world produced here. At the same time, Pilsen is the only large Czech city which was in May 1945 liberated by the troops of the American Army. The atmosphere which was not forgotten even during the 40 years of the communist regime returns to Pilsen every year during the Liberation Festival.  This year again the weekend from May 5th to 8th will be filled with historical military camps and veheicles, you can look forward to meeting war veterans and to many more exceptional experiences.   • Farmers’ Markets (May 6th and 20th)

Every second Saturday the area between the St Bartholomew’s Cathedral and the City Hall is used as a market place which provides wide selection of seasonal fruit, vegetables and of high-quality local food made by local farmers and producers. Farmers’ Markets start always at 8 a.m. and finish around noon.

  • Pilsen’s Festival of Soup (May 14th)

The first spring edition of the popular Festival of Soup takes place in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. On Sunday, May 14th in the yard of the brewery various soups of many tastes and smells will be served from huge metal cauldrons which were used for cooking on the open fire by chefs of local restaurants and bistros. Come and taste our delicious soups. You will not regret.

  • Pilsen’s Yards (May 20th)

The historical city centre hides many secret corners and yards which you are not allowed to explore on daily basis. However, the one-day long festival Pilsen’s Yards gives you a unique opportunity to visit them, enjoy their calming atmosphere and to learn a lot about these mysterious places.   • Wine Path near Bolevecky Pond (May 20th)

In the city of Pilsen not only beer is popular, wine too found its fans here despite not being produced in the area. On Sunday, May 20th you can taste more than 150 samples while walking along the two-kilometre long wine path around the Bolevecky Pond in the northern part of the city. All wine lovers will appreciate delicious wine type selection from famous wine areas as well as a pleasant walk in the nature. The event finishes in the evening with a concert in the car camp-site Ostende.

  • Fresh Festival (May 20th – 21st)

Visit Pilsen to taste great food and beer. Delicious food will be served on the third weekend in May during the gourmet Fresh Festival. You can look forward to two days full of great music and top gastronomy with famous Czech chefs. The festival carries its subtitle Taste the World and this year of the festival provides an amazing opportunity to taste selected foreign specialities. Adventurous visitors will enjoy experience gastronomy such as molecular and extreme catering or even entomophagy – when insect is served.  

  • Pilsen’s Night of Museums (May 26th)

Night of Museums provides a great opportunity to visit many museums and galleries, the Pilsen Historical Underground or DEPO2015. All these places open their door for visitors outside their common opening hours. Moreover, all of them will be opened free of charge or for a reduced entrance fee. Additional cultural programme will be arranged too. Come and visit places which are not accessible for public during regular guided tours such as the Secession style library in the main building of the Museum of West Bohemia. 

  • Jugglobalisation (May 27th)

Juggling, rope walking, air acrobatics, riding a one-wheel any many more new-circus acrobatic tricks will be demonstrated during the Jugglobalisation event in Borsky Park. Czech as well as foreign acrobats and artists will perform for you. Many of their tricks are truly breath-taking. And if even this is not enough for you can participate in the new-circus workshops and learn a few tricks yourself. Children will not be forgotten so bring your whole family to Borsky Park and enjoy a pleasant family day here.

  • Brewstock (May 26th)

Almost 30 small breweries and their delicious beer brews will be offered during the beer festival Brewstock on the last Saturday in May on the bank of the Mze River not far from the historical city centre. Brew masters from both Czech and foreign small-scale breweries will offer their brews as it should be - tapped in glasses, of course. You can taste classic beer types as well as some exotic products. Entrance to the event is free of charge. 

  • European Day of Neighbours (May 27th – 28th)

Many European cities celebrate a European Day of Neighbours, a day which is dedicated to local inhabitants. However, if you travel to Pilsen at the last weekend in May there is no doubt you will enjoy this day too. On many places concerts and dance performances take place including entertaining programmes for children.
