Pilsen October Events Miniguide

Autumn events in PIlsen, Czech Republic, are full of colours.

  • Pilsner Fest (October 7th)

The Pilsner Urquell Brewery traditionally celebrates its birthday with Pilsner Fest, this year it is the 175th anniversary of the famous brewery. A lot of beer, experiences and first-class music performances are waiting for you. In the yard of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery the music groups such as Lenny, Monkey Business or Sto zvířat will play, Mňága and Žďorp, Support Lesbiens and Alice with Dan Barta will perform on the Republic Square.

  • Farmers’ Markets (October 7th, 14th and 21st)

Until the end of this year, you still have several opportunities to buy seasonal fruits and vegetables and delicious food from local farmers and producers. Farmers’ Markets in Pilsen traditionally take place on the Republic Square except for the second Saturday in October when the market takes place in the courtyard of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. The markets start usually at 8 o'clock and finish around noon.

  • Havel’s Market (October 11th – 17th)

On the Republic Square you can experience the pleasant atmosphere of several markets until the end of the year. In October, visit the Havel’s Market which introduces various folk crafts as well as traditional delicious specialties.

  • Treffpunkt (October 20th – 22nd)

A lot of beer, pretzels, sausages, Bavarian folklore and modern music. All this and much more will be offered in the middle of October by the Bavarian-Czech cultural festival called Treffpunkt in DEPO2015. You can enjoy not only the true Bavarian Biergarten but also concerts and many other interesting events.

  • Beer-Tapping School (October 14th and 27th)

Beer tapping is an art of its own. During the three-hour-long course in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery you will find out that it is not as easy as it may seem. But all of you will learn how to tap various types of tapped beer and taste the world-wide known lager together with traditional Czech goulash. A guided tour of the brewery is included in the programme of the course.

  • Pilsen Night (October 21st)

Twelve locations, more than 60 artists and just one ticket. This is the Pilsen Night which will not allow you to go to bed early. You can choose from a variety of music genres ranging from rock, punk, electro and pop to rap. For sure, there will be what to choose from. One part of the accompanying programme brings, for example, a soothing moment of poetry.

  • International Day of Archaeology (October 21st)

Come with the whole family to celebrate the International Day of Archaeology in the Museum of West Bohemia. In the Archaeology exposition you will learn about the prehistoric times and you can try, for example, how difficult it is to grind flour with large stones. In the History exhibition you can get to know the period of the Middle Ages and the Modern Age and you can also try on various period costumes. The entrance is free of charge from 10am to 6pm. Up to 5pm guided tours are provided every hour and archaeological workshops are available for both children and adults. 

  • Celebrations of the Republic Establishment and DEPO Street Food Market (October 28th)

On the day of the establishment of an independent Czechoslovakian state you can visit for free or for a symbolic price of 28 Czech crowns many selected monuments and sights in Pilsen. The festive atmosphere will be celebrated in the evening by a lantern parade which will end on the Republic Square with festive fireworks. Throughout the day, DEPO2015 will provide a great opportunity to taste specialties from street food buses from around the world including the first-republic specialties.
