Festive uniforms, historical military vehicles, life of soldiers and civilians in stories from the end of the WWII, interesting cultural programme in the rhythm of the swing music and many other great events will bring the city of Pilsen back to May 1945 when the American army liberated the city of Pilsen. If you plan a trip to Pilsen during this period – the first weekend in May, you will experience unique atmosphere of the only Czech city which until today proudly celebrates its liberators – American military veterans. This event is Pilsen’s own small Independence Day - the celebrations take place in the entire city connecting military and cultural programmes, decorations and festive mood which can be felt everywhere.
During the celebrations you have chance to visit military camps in several parts of the city centre. As audience you can participate in spectacular parade of historical military technology and vehicles called Convoy of Liberty. Guided tours are provided by the Patton Memorial Pilsen. The central point of the cultural programme is the main scene located directly on the Republic Square. In the cultural house Peklo a swing ball is organized which you can visit wearing historical costumes. The streets of the city will be filled with beer, delicious food and good mood.
