Techmania Opens Its New Mathatlon Exposition
Mathematics and sport have many things in common. If you do not believe it, you should visit the Pilsen Science Center Techmania and explore the new exposition called Mathatlon. If you participate in all twelve disciplines of this special multi contest you will find out that these two apparently not connected branches share a lot. Ideally, take your friends with you or go with your family. You will have a lot of fun here. You can compete with each other in Mathatlon to find out that you need both muscles and brain to win.
Let’s use shooting as an example – not only you are required to hit the target the same way as Martin Fourcade, but before shooting you have to solve the mathematical riddle too. For golf it is necessary to hit the ball under the right angle. For rowing correct high frequency of rowing is crucial to beat the other competitors. The exercise simulator gives you the chance to try downhill skiing, ski jumps or bicycle riding. There is also something prepared for dance lovers. On the mat you have to perform a flawless dance based either on axial or central symmetry. Yachting requires absolutely perfect use of wind. Moreover, you can also visit a boulder wall for climbing or a floorball playground. Your performance in all individual disciplines will be recorded in your logbook by means of a bar code on your entrance band. At the end just compare your score with others!
- Techmania Science Centre is opened from Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturdays from 10a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays and vacations from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The expositions are labelled by descriptions in English and German.
