Events in October You Should Not Miss in Pilsen

  • Pilsen Busking Fest (October 3rd – 6th)

Street artists from all over the world will once again find their place in the historical centre of Pilsen. During Pilsen Busking Fest you will see not only musicians performing in different genres but also acrobats, dancers, magicians or various theatre performances. Moreover, you will not miss the favourite flaskinet. The culmination of the festival will be the show composed of the best on the evening prior to the Pilsner Fest on the stage in the Republic Square.

  • Pilsener Fest (October 6th)

Autumn in Pilsen is inseparably associated with the celebrations of the first batch of the Pilsen Urquell beer brewed in the city. This year, the beer celebrates its 176th birthday on Saturday, October 6th. Pilsner Fest promises magnificent celebrations not only in the area of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery but also on the stage in the Republic Square and in Štruncovy sady. Bara Polakova, Imodium, Anna K. or Pipes and Pints will perform this year. At exactly 18:42, we traditionally raise our beer glasses and cans with "Pilsen" and we drink on at least another 176 years of the beer.

  • Havel’s Market (October 10th – 16th)

The first autumn markets offers much more than just the smell of hot wine. In addition to traditional stands serving good food and drinks, you can enjoy many folk craft demonstrations and look forward to watching masters of the art at work, for example woodcarvers or blacksmiths. Producers of candles and ceramics will be there too. Plan your visit to the Republic Square and enjoy the pleasant autumn atmosphere in the centre of Pilsen.

  • Treffpunkt (October 18th – 21th)

DEPO2015 in Pilsen will once again be transformed into one large Bavarian Biergarten in late October. The organizers from our neighbours will bring not only Bavarian beer, pretzels and sausages but also other parts of their Bavarian culture. Apart from films and lectures, you can enjoy music performances from both sides of the border.

  • Pilsen celebrations of the foundation of the Czechoslovakian Republic (October 27th – 28th)

Thanks to the important 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovakian Republic foundation this year's celebrations will last for two days. For a symbolic entrance fee of 28 CZK, you will be able to visit many interesting places. Throughout the celebrations, the original text of the song "Where my home is" (Kde domov můj, the Czech national anthem) will be exhibited in the Pilsen City Hall. In the evening of the anniversary the traditional lantern procession of lights will take place. The procession will end in the Republic Square with festive fireworks.

  • The first profile exhibition by photographer Vilem Heckel

From October 4th until the end of January, the Museum of West Bohemia in Pilsen will host the first ever profile exhibition of this world-class photographer Vilem Heckel. Through his photographs, you can explore remote mountain areas and forgotten corners of the world, as well as get familiar with the entire portfolio of his work, ranging from industrial and commercial photography to photographs from high-altitude mountain expeditions and landscapes from all over the Czechoslovakian region.

  • Last month of the exhibition 100py in DEPO (until October 31st)

Interactive and experience exhibition 100Ppy: One hundred years seen by the eyes of five generations will guide you through the fundamental historical events of the past century. Through several generations of the fictive Nemec family you get the opportunity to experience both their personal dilemmas as well as crucial historical events. The exhibition will be in DEPO2015 only until the end of October.
