Events You Need to Go to in Pilsen in the Summer

Join some of the summer events in the historical city cetre of Pilsen.

Planning a summer trip to Pilsen? Enjoy some of the nice traditional events such as concerts in the area of Pilsner Urquell Brewery,  Vivid Street festival in the historical centre or exhibition of car veterans in DEPO2015. There are of course much more, find out in our summer events guide! 


  • Summer concerts in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery (every Thursday)

Every Thursday throughout the holiday the brewery courtyard hosts a music performance of a different genre within the traditional Summer in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. The first music band of the evening starts to play at 7 pm, the main band is scheduled always for 8.30 pm. Admission fee for the concerts costs 50 CZK. This year, you can look forward to the popular Czech bands such as O5 a Radeček, Imodium, Semtex, Vítkovo Quartet, Tichá dohoda and others performing directly in the area of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery.

  • Vivid Street Festival (July 15th – 17th and August 9th -18h)

With the beginning of summer, the Pilsen's historical city centre comes alive with the Vivid Street Festival. From July 15th – 17th , the festival will be commenced with its theatre block, where spectators will see leading European street performances, such as a stunt show from Germany, they will experience the puppet show of the Continuo Theatre, a cabaret or the Bängditos acrobatic theatre.

The main part of the programme of the Vivid Street Festival starts from August 9th and ends on August 18th and it will present plenty of both domestic and world music performances, theatres and children's programmes. Among the most popular performers of this year’s festival are Lenka Dusilová, Prago Union, Kapitán Demo, Zrní, Kalle and many others. The cultural feast presented by the Vivid Street Festival is traditionally concluded by the Festival of Soup, which the organizers will prepare on September 1st. Entry to the festival is free of charge.

  • Gems with the Scent of Petrol (July 19th – 21st)

The cultural centre DEP02015 will be hosting the original show of shiny car veterans this year again as a part of the event called Gems with the Scent of Petrol. There will be more than a hundred models of luxurious brands such as Aston Martin, Bugatti or Mercedes. You can admire the varied collection of historic and luxurious cars ranging from sports cars, limousines, formula 1 cars and jeeps to legendary racing or utility vehicles. Moreover, this year, the organizers will bring the unique travelling vehicles including the Tatra of travellers Hanzelka and Zikmund, the legendary yellow Trabant or the Tuktuk which went across the entire Asia.

  • Bolevák Music Festival (August 3rd)

At the beginning of August, the beach of the Great Bolevecký Pond will be a very lively place with the largest dance music festival in the west of Bohemia taking place there. Bolevák Music Festival will offer a varied list of Czech and foreign performers and DJs. There will be also a number of water attractions to try, such as jet skis, flyboarding, paddle boarding and more, and, of course, you can just enjoy relaxing on the beach.

  • International Dixieland Festival (August 3rd – 4th)

During the festival, Pilsen will live in the rhythm of jazz, swing and the atmosphere of New Orleans. On Saturday at 4 pm, the festival will be commenced by a dixieland parade leaving from the St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral on the Republic Square. The Dixie Hot Licks, Humpolec Dixieland and The German Old Time Memory Jazz Band will perform for you.  On Sunday, the programme continues in the Pilsner Urquell Brewery where the Pilsner Jazz Band and Dixie Heartbreakers play both for dancing and listening.   • Sportmania (August 17th – 25th)

The amphitheatre located behind the Plaza Shopping Centre and the adjacent park will give you a great opportunity to try out a variety of traditional and unconventional sports for free. Dozens of sport areas are waiting for you and experienced coaches will provide professional advice. Every day from 1pm to 8pm you can try a new rope park, a car track or a water slide. For children, competitions for medals will be arranged and for sports fans autograph sessions with famous athletes will be definitely very attractive.   • Farmers’ Market (every Saturday)

Every Saturday from 8 am, the farmers’ market takes place in the city centre directly on the Republic Square. You can shop for seasonal vegetables, fresh cheese, meat, pastries and marmalades from local producers and farmers, or just sit down and enjoy high-quality coffee and have a bite of something delicious.


  • Exhibition Filla-Kubišta. A Pilsen Disputation (until September 29th)

In the Masné krámy Exhibition Hall you can see the unique exhibition of two leading Czech artists and representatives of Kubism - Bohumil Kubišta and Emil Filla. The imaginative graphic concept of the exhibition which assigns specific relations in artistic communities to each stage of works by both authors will draw you directly into the artistic dialogue of these two different personalities.
