Zoo and DinoPark

Zoological and Botanical Garden

An ideal aim for a family trip is the Pilsen Zoological and Botanical Garden. It is located near the city centre. The attractive rugged terrain with lakes, arboretum, rocks and outdoor and indoor pavilions provides various species from all over the world with their specific facilities.  Here you can see giraffes, rhinos, lions, tigers, bears, penguins, flamingos, kangaroos, zebras, and crocodiles.  Also  there are usual domestic animals at the farm called Lüftnerka and for some people these are the main stars and attractions of the wide range on show at the Pilsen Zoological and Botanical Garden.

The latest exhibitions are the Underground World and the Kingdom of Poison. The pavilion, where you can see the most poisonous snakes of the world, opened in 2015. A part of the zoological garden is a botanical garden with the meditative Japanese garden. It is not important if you are free to visit it only for a while or for a few hours. In the ZOO you can easily spend the whole day.

Especially during the main season and summer holidays you can visit falconry demonstrations, feeding and presentations of various kinds of animals with accompanying commentaries. In the area you can find all necessary facilities including a selection of places where you can easily buy refreshments for the children and the whole family (the main cafeteria in the tropical pavillion, the pub at the farm Lüftnerka, the Siberian log cabin and the restaurant Kiboko). A complete list of exhibitions and species including the current programme of feeding with commentary and other actions in the ZOO can be found at

The upper part of the ZOO is closely connected to the popular DinoPark. An amazing attraction of moving models of prehistoric lizards, with sound effects, invites you to an adventurous trip to prehistory.  Several metre tall models of various kinds of dinosaurs are placed in the nature sceneries reminiscent of the prehistoric landscape in the Mesozoic era. DinoPark enables children to admire giant extinct animals and to get to know the world which has not existed for millions of years.

You may also find here other attractions. Children can uncover the dinosaur skeleton on the paleontological playground.   Thanks to screening in 3D cinema, which is part of the ticket, you can get under the surface of wild Mesozoic seas where a countless number of traps and dangers await. More information about the visit of DinoPark can be found here.
